NNEDI OKORAFOR AND KEVIN WATSON JOIN FORCES TO LAUNCH GROUNDBREAKING AFROFUTURISM TV AND VIDEO GAME SERIES, "FICE: PLANET OBLIVORA"

In a collaboration that promises to redefine the landscape of independent storytelling, award-winning sci-fi and fantasy author Nnedi Okorafor and visionary filmmaker Kevin Watson announce their partnership in the creation of "Fice: Planet Oblivora." This innovative AfroFuturism TV series, currently in pre-production and casting, is set to captivate audiences with its rich narratives and imaginative world-building.

Nnedi Okorafor, renowned for her unique voice in Africanfuturism and Africanjujuism—terms she herself coined—is the Emmy-winning author behind the original conception of "Fice." Known for her acclaimed work on the Black Panther comic series for Marvel, Okorafor is a trailblazer in science fiction and fantasy literature. She has garnered multiple prestigious awards, including the Hugo, Nebula, Eisner, and World Fantasy Awards. In 2024, she was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame by the Museum of Pop Culture, solidifying her legacy in literary history. Currently, she is also collaborating with legendary author George R.R. Martin on an HBO adaptation of her novel "Who Fears Death," a powerful blend of science fiction and fantasy set in a post-apocalyptic Africa.

At the helm of this dynamic project is Kevin Watson, a transformative figure in American design and manufacturing. As the mastermind behind Powatt, Watson has established his factory as a leading name in the industry, creating products that have become staples in major retailers, including Urban Outfitters. From his roots in Chicago's Hyde Park to a stellar academic background in engineering from Boston University, Watson has built a remarkable career as a visionary entrepreneur. A key architect of the dot-com era's digital marketing landscape through his role at Razorfish, he further cemented his reputation at the acclaimed design firm Attik, where he propelled the company’s annual revenue from $1.5 million to over $20 million.

Watson's expansion into digital entertainment and film production has been equally ambitious. His video game publishing venture, born during the COVID pandemic, seeks to integrate original scripted content with video games, toys, and apparel, reminiscent of the successful cross-promotional strategies employed by Lucasfilm and Pixar. With a focus on fostering creativity and collaboration, Watson aims to disrupt conventional paradigms in film and gaming, offering a fresh perspective that is much needed in today’s marketplace.

As excitement builds around "Fice: Planet Oblivora," insiders are buzzing about the project’s potential to challenge stereotypes and expand the boundaries of creative storytelling. Those who have worked with Watson describe the experience as transformative, highlighting his visionary approach and ethical leadership in identifying untapped potential.

In an industry yearning for innovative content, "Fice" emerges as a beacon of creativity and possibility, confidently asserting that anything is possible when one refuses to be confined by conventional norms.

Stay tuned as more updates on "Fice: Planet Oblivora" unfold, promising an unforgettable blend of storytelling and interactive experiences.
